This is the only game I know of to have a book written about it. I’m speaking of Pinball Wizardry, an obscure but now sought after book on how to master the intricacies of playing pinball. The Authors give special note to this machine as being the main one that they developed all their play skills and theories on. It is well suited for that as it is an asymmetrical playfield with a bank of 10 drop targets at the top and another bank of 5 drop targets on the lower right side coupled with 2 sets of flippers making for all sorts of shots. The double side lanes make it possible to catch and pass the ball. If there is a skill shot, I don’t know what it is, I try to “drop catch” the ball with the upper left flipper and hit one of the targets. To make things more complicated, there is a moving spot lite that sequences thru the targets making the lit target a higher value. It is advanced by the lower bumper target and an upper field rollover. Knocking all 15 targets down in 5 balls rewards with a credit and lites a special indicating that the spot lit target hit will give another free game. You can also win on high score points. This particular machine came from Joe Caradona in San Jose. It was originally wired up incorrectly and needed a new backglass so he generously reduced the price and made it affordable to keep. Michael Scott rewired it correctly and it works like a charm. This is another very popular game at the Ju Ju and also one of the more difficult.
