Klondike

Klondike Klondike Klondike

March 23, 2005

Klondike is one of those rare machines where the theme and the play are synonymous. An Alaskan gold strike symbolizes gambling and hitting pay dirt and the idea is carried over on the play field with a slot machine that pays out in high points, extra balls and even free games. The beauty of this game is that anyone can get a bonanza by pure dumb luck and if you know what you’re doing, it can really pay off. It’s not unusual during the din of myriads of machines to hear the familiar Pop! Pop! of Klondike rewarding someone with a payout of credits or balls. The Christian Marche Artwork was a good choice on this one, usually his “pointy people” don’t always work, but this is an exception. There is no bonus or specials, just high points and collect the Reel value which has its own score card on the right. You bounce the ball over various buttons, targets and lanes to advance the 3 reels alignment. You can check the reel or just watch the reel value lights mid-field to see what the payout is. Anything above the bottom 2 is at least a free ball and points. Another fun thing is to try and land in both the left and right upper saucers to light all 5 bumpers including the center 1000 point one. This was the first game I went totally thru, repainting the worn spots on the playfield and clear-coating, touching up the backglass and servicing the entire guts. It plays like a cushy new mattress and is a real popular game. A 9.0 on the playometer.

Produced by Williams, 1971. 1 players. 9.0 out of 10 on the Play-O-Meter

High Score 152,050 by JCN on August 08, 2003
