High Hand
March 23, 2005
This is an evil, mean little machine which I believe has it’s own set of gravitational rules. The theme is cards with a Marvel Comics type super hero “Card Dealer Man?!!” in a surreal background. The playfield is pretty down to earth other than its strange ball-sucking properties. The rules are simple, 4 banks of 4 drop targets with a center hole for collecting accumulated hands. Knock ‘em all down, center hole lites special for a free game. Mac says he and his buddies call this a golfing game because after you’ve knocked down all the targets on the first ball, the rest of the game is trying to sink the hole shot... Right! I think I’ve gotten all the targets down once and that was when I was waxing the playfield with the glass off. This game frustrates the hell out of me, but some people like the Edster can’t get enough. The side lanes always favor the house and the ball seems to actually accelerate as it speeds between the flippers. I only keep it at the Ju Ju to satisfy the masochistic few.
Major Update! High Hand is BACK with a vengance! This mean little machine is brand spankin' new after buying it back from Greg Pruitt before he left for Bagdahd. He did a great job of fixing it up so now anyone can play it and be frustrated.
Even I was finally able to beat it and now it awaits your puny efforts to conquer it's soul. I hope Greg is doing ok and if he gets this message, to please give us a line. Please.
